Rebrand To Eat Jacob (Formerly Whey Better Bar)

(This is the email update I sent all customers the night before the launch)

I've been looking forward to this day for 5 months! Whey Better Bar has rebranded to Eat Jacob, and we are back in stock TOMORROW (May 11).

What happened to Whey Better Bar?

On November 13, 2023, I launched Whey Better Bar, and the reception was incredible. Our first batch sold out in about 5 days. I opened preorders for our second batch, which sold out before we even made it! The same happened with the third batch. I was so grateful for your support of our product and mission.

During the fourth batch, I (1) increased the batch size significantly and (2) let the production team do their work, so I was in the room next to the kitchen. After about 10,000 bars were made and packaged, I started packing preorders, excited to get these bars in your hands! I opened and tried one and immediately knew something was wrong; this was not the same texture and consistency as the first 3 batches. We stopped production to analyze the issue. Long story short: one of our ingredient partners had made an error.

What have you been doing since January?

After encountering this issue, I worked with several food science experts to find a solution.  However, nothing that we made could uphold the consistent quality we strived for, and I certainly wouldn't settle for anything less than the best. So, we went back to the drawing board with a few goals: (1) Maintain our high-quality standards of ingredients; (2) Do not use artificial sweeteners, binders, gums, stabilizers, or seed oils; (3) Make it incredibly tasty, and; (4) Make it high protein. This journey made me realize why so many products out there do not prioritize our health... Making a product with only real ingredients is quite difficult (and expensive).

But we did it. Using our development knowledge from the original Whey Better Bar, plus 5 more months of ideation, testing, and sampling, we landed on a product that surpassed our quality and taste expectations.

Enter: Eat Jacob.

This process was painful: it felt like someone cut our engine as we were leaving the atmosphere with Whey Better Bar. But this experience gave me a lot of time for introspection and analysis. What is my goal with this brand and product? Who do I want to help and how will I help them? What do we stand for as a brand and how do we communicate those values? I thought long and hard about these questions.

I wanted to build a brand that represented your best, an idea that embodied everything you knew you could be. What if you acted the way you know you should? For me, this centered around my health journey: my eyes were opened to the transformative power of real food and authentic living as I healed my lifelong asthma through natural interventions. And I wondered how much further I could take this, perhaps in other areas of life.

Jacob represents the best of us. It's who we can aspire to be like. It's the version of yourself that keeps promises and does what your suppose to do. It's the you who doesn't settle for less than the best. You find a solution. You make it work.

Jacob's vision is to create a world in which anyone who cares about their health never has to compromise on it.

What is the new formula?

I am incredibly proud of this product. I know it will help people live healthier, better lives, whether on-the-go or simply as a healthy snack. We use 10 real, clean ingredients for our new bars:

Each bar is packed with 20g of the highest-quality protein, carbs from pure organic honey and dates, and satiating fat from 100% grass-fed beef tallow (shown above is the Vanilla Chip flavor; view here for the nutrition and ingredient facts for all bars).

Relaunching ... TOMORROW!

I did not want to make an official announcement until I was 100% certain that we were ready to ship. And just last night, I confirmed it: our production run went smoothly, and all bars are packed in their (new and improved) boxes.

It has been a long and arduous few months. There were many moments when I wasn't sure if we would make it through. And perhaps that's why this is all the more rewarding. I am ready to get this product in the hands of people I know it will help. With your help, I am ready to make a dent in the world of healthy snacks.

To health,
